Accomplishments
PAIHN has been very successful in creating an
environment for success:
- PAIHN has developed the capacity to provide 5,840
bed/nights and 17,520 meals a year.
- In 2004 the Network will provide transitional
shelter and associated services to more than 24
families, including 39 children.
- The Network Case Manager provides at least 20
referrals each week to individuals and families not in
the Network.
- Over 80% of the families who have been involved in
the program are once again living stable, productive
lives (This is higher than the national average of
74%.).
- Over 150 specially trained volunteers welcome
families into their congregation?s facilities and provide hospitality that includes meals, overnight
accommodations, and companionship. Currently there
are nine area churches hosting families on a revolving
basis and seven additional congregations that partner
with host churches to provide additional volunteers
and other support.
- The Network is a cost effective way to help homeless
families. Since it uses existing facilities and
relies on a volunteer base, the average cost is
approximately $16.95 per person per day, well below
the national average in a shelter of $42.00 per person
per day.
- Children previously involved in the program are
doing better in school because of the compassionate
care given (and modeled) by our volunteers who
provided a structured and safe environment for the
families while they were in the program.
- On June 24, 2004 PAIHN was recognized for its
service to the community when it received the Robert L
Campbell, D.O. Memorial Award.
Funding/Grant History with Daniels Fund
Nearly a third (32%) of PAIHN?s funding in FY2004 came
from PAIHN?s directors and individuals of the local
community. Other sources of revenues include
foundations (28%), host & support faith congregations
(16%), local government and fundraising events (12%
each). In March 2002, PAIHN submitted a funding
request to the Daniels Fund which was determined not
to be a match for partnership at that time.
